Sam survived an unbelievable travel nightmare that included nine weeks in a Syrian prison, 27 days of which he spent in solitary confinement.
Sam Goodwin is an American entrepreneur, author, and professional speaker. A former Division I collegiate hockey player, he co-founded a tech company and NGO in Singapore and is one of the few people who has traveled to all 193 countries in the world.
So, how did Sam end up in Syrian captivity?
After college, Sam signed up to work in Singapore for six months but stayed there for six years. Realizing his love for travel, he made it a point to visit new countries during any break or holiday and found that just a few years into his journey, he had visited 120 of the 193 countries in the world. Then, his competitive spirit kicked in, and he was determined to visit them all.
Everything was going well until Sam landed in Syria for country visit number 180. Only hours into his trip, he was detained by armed men and put into a black van for transport to an undisclosed detainment facility where he would spend his first of two months in solitary confinement. The stories of mental and physical survival that Sam shares are only outdone by his prayerfulness and spiritual stability during this period.
The miraculous story of Sam’s release is so unbelievable and inspiring that you must tune in to catch it all.
